Free Adult Literacy Tutoring
The library’s Second Start Program offers free tutoring, classes, and computer use to people 16 and older who read or write below the eighth-grade level. Call for information.
Hours for the Second Start Adult Literacy Program are Tuesday 10am-8pm; Wednesday 10am-5pm; Thursday 2pm-8pm; Friday 10am-5pm; and Saturday 10am-5pm.

Celebrate Women's History Month! Suppressed Histories: Iran

Local artist and curator of the Suppressed Histories Archives, Max Dashu, offers a rich, diverse look at 8000 years of Iranian history with women at the center. Her slide presentation covers magnificent ceramics and female icons of ancient Iran, including views of the rare snake goddess seals from Marhashi, the goddess Anahita, and the wild-side bronzes from Luristan. Her survey continues with views of women in Persian miniatures, carpet weavers, and leaders of the current Iranian revolution.
