Play Xbox360 and Wii video games and/or test your skill at boardwalk-style games like giant Tic-Tac-Toe Frisbee, Bean Bag Toss, Lucky Duck & more to win prizes and impress your friends. Please register for this program open to grades 6-12.

Learn the basic rules of ping-pong, play for fun, and finish with an (optional) smackdown elimination competition!  Each library's champ will have the opportunity to compete for the title of Cranston Library Ping-Pong Champ at the Central Library on August 2nd, and everyone can come cheer on the competitors.  This program is open to participants entering Grades 5 and up, all equipment will be provided.  Registration is encouraged but not required.  Contact your library to find out if the ping-pong tables and paddles are available for practice or free play at other times.

Grades 5-12 will learn basic self-defense during this fun, fast-paced workshop that will teach them how to solve problems without violence, as well as teach some simple, safe techniques to defend against bullies and strangers. Registration is required.

Learn some bike maintenance skills from Providece Recycle-a-Bike! This class will cover the ABC Quick Check which should be performed before any bike ride, as well as a few cost-saving maintenance skills, like greasing your chain and adjusting your brake pads. Registration is encouraged by not required. Bring your bike! The first 12 people will receive a patch kit to keep.

Come celebrate our summer reading theme: "Get in the Game: Read." Get your photo taken with comic book characters, play Star Wars Battlefront (courtesy of Gamestop Chapel View) on the big screen, or Marvel vs. Capcom or Injustice on Xbox 360 or Super Smash Bros. on the Wii. Enjoy Roblox or Minecraft on our laptops. Have fun playing a variety of super hero and movie-themed games for small prizes. Watch our 3D printer in action as it prints game pieces and superhero logos. Visit all our booths and have your card stamped to be eligible for our prize drawing.This event is open to teens and their families.

In this one and one-half hour session those ages 12 and up will learn to "mod" or change the Minecraft world with code!  Discover coding concepts as well as how to build in the game using Python programming language on the Raspberry Pi, a low-cost credit card seized computer designed to promote computer education.This workshop promotes mental exercise and teamwork through activity challenges. You will be provided additional resources you may explore on your own after this workshop. Please register for this program as space is limited.

Calling all crafters! Learn how to summon lightning bolts with a bow and arrow or build giant rainbows in the Minecraft world with code! Spawn farm animals or monsters instantly and have fun "modding" your world! (This workshop introduces coding concepts by showing students how to build or change (e.g. mod) the game using the Javascript or Python programming language. The set-up is easy for beginners, challenging for experienced gamers and fun for everyone!

Celebrate the Summer Olympics by participating in our very own Chocolate Olympics, where the games and the medals all involve guess what? You guessed it: chocolate! Will the chocolate you win be wrapped in bronze, silver or gold?  There will be chocolate cookies & ice cream for all after the Olympic competition. Bring your friends and enjoy the fun.This program is open to those in grades 6 through 12. Please register for this program so that we have plenty of chocolate prizes.
