    The "What's Happenin' Band"  will open the 2013 Summer Concert Series at the Hall Library.  The band will perform many famous pieces by critically acclaimed composers and musicians.  The quintet includes;  Alex Chapman on drums, Alex Tremblay on bass, Sam Parker on piano and Leland Baker and Ben Marcoux on tenor sax.  Bring a chair and enjoy the free music on the beautiful grounds of the Hall Library.

    Go beneath the surface to discover the secrets of a great summer at the Teen Underground Cafe! Socialize with your friends and chill out with food and a delicious Coolatta, courtesy of Dunkin' Donuts. Enjoy a Divergent Party! You do not have  to read the book to enjoy this exciting event.  But, you just might want to read it after this thrilling experience. In this story, society is divided into five factions.  On an appointed day of every year, all sixteen-year-olds must select the faction to which they will devote the rest of their lives.Which one would you choose?  Remember one choice can transform you! The book becomes a movie in 2014. If you like Hunger Games, then Divergent is for you.The Teen Cafe is open to those entering grades 5 to 9. Older teens may volunteer for the program and earn service credits.

    Go beneath the surface to discover the secrets of a great summer at the Teen Underground Cafe! Socialize with your friends and chill out with Dunkin' Donuts Coolattas! Most people live their lives unaware that there are other worlds: that just below the the surface of their reality lies another.  Once Upon a Time... reveals a world of magic that lies beneath the town of Storybrooke, Maine. A world filled with mystery and adventure,and  fairy tales filled with well-known fairy tale characters, among whom are heroes and  villains, princes and princesses and evil queens. You are invited to a "Once Upon a Time" Party for a magical time! Come for good food, fun and your chance to re-live your favorite fairy tales. The Teen Cafe is open to those entering grades 5 to 9. Older teens may volunteer for the program and earn service credits.

They will also investigate how scientists evaluate what they find. The presentation really pops when they see what happens when what's inside the Earth tries to get out.     Travel to URI School of Oceanography's Narragansett Bay Classroom and go "Beneath the Surface" for Ocean Bottoms and Secrets of the Underwater World presented by a URI Outreach Scientist. The ocean does not easily give up its secrets! It is a frontier that scientists are just beginning to explore. Find out what discoveries scientists have made about the ocean and the world far beneath its surface.
This FREE program is open to those entering grade 6 through grade 12. Free bus transportation is provided for these chaperoned field trips. This summer there are three field trips. Due to limited space, your name with be placed on the reservation list for only one field trip.  If you are interested in more than one, you may place your name on the waiting list for the other two field trips. Registration begins June 17th

    Play a Beneath the Surface themed Jeopardy Game, as an individual or a group. For each question you answer correctly, you earn points,  while for each incorrect answer points are deductedfrom your total. The winner of each Jeopardy game will be awarded a candy prize, and each member of the winning team will be awarded candy prizes. Winners will play-off until we have a indiviiual Grand Champion, who will earn bragging rights and  fun prize and a team Grand Champion, whose members will earn bragging rights and fun prizes. This program is open to those entering  grades 9 to 12.

    Go "Beneath the Surface" on a guided visit to the RISD Museum. Look carefully at works of art and special exhibitions, including "Made for Eternity", This selection from the Museum’s ancient Egyptian collection presents objects made between 3700 BCE and 250 CE.
This FREE program is open to those entering grade 6 through grade 12. Free bus transportation is provided for these chaperoned field trips.
This summer there are three field trips, due to limited space, please register for only one field trip.  If you are interested in more than one, you may place your name on the waiting list for the other two field tips. Registration begins June 17th.
