Members help to select materials for the teen collection and plan and help carry out teen programs as well as help organize and carry out fundraising activities. Cranston Public Library welcomes back Matt Celeste of Blueflash Photography for a free, 3-part photography class series! Attend all three classes, or just those which interest you the most. Classes will take place on Mondays June 1, 15 and 29 and begin at 5:30 pm. Registration for this event is recommended.

This first class serves as a primer to get you off auto mode on your camera, so you can taking the best photos possible! We'll walk through all the major settings and options, explore examples, and have time for hands-on practice and Q&A at the end. Be sure to bring your DSLR!

"The Jacket Project" @ Central

New Jersey native Bobby Travieso will be displaying "The Jacket Project" for the first time in New England.  "My mom bought this jacket for me back in 1976...at the Alexander’s store on route 4 in Paramus, NJ.  I wanted to do something artistic with it. For my project I had people from all walks of life wear it for a photo shoot." The exhibit will be on display in the Meeting Room until June 19th.

A motivated, generous band of volunteer sewists organized to sew for local and global charitable organizations. To date, we have made contributions to Little Dresses for Africa, Britches for Boys, RI Foster Kids and Children, the RI Women's Center Shelter and Hasbro Children's Hospital among others. We are currently looking for like-minded individuals in our community to join our cause. Beware, you may just have too much fun!

The Projects:  All projects are designed for nearly any level of sewing experience. If you have many years to just a beginning knowledge and skill. We work together on the same projects in order to help one another.

To Bring:  Sewing machine, sewing tools, a work light (if you have/need one), fabric and supplies appropriate for each project of the month, a willing spirit,looking for a fun time with like-minded sewists.

What is supplied:  Sewing area, Ironing station, Patterns for the monthly projects.

When do we meet:  We meet once per month on Monday night from 5-7:45 pm in the Program Room of the William Hall Library.

Children will get the opportunity to meet several of our animal friends and learn about the special abilities that make them heroes. Basic Vegetable Gardening.  This class, led by two experienced local gardeners (Annemarie Bruun and Bill Baddeley), meets once each quarter to prepare for the garden tasks of the coming three months.  No previous gardening experience is necessary.  We cover both container and in-the-earth gardens.  We'll also cover related matters including composting.

Tonight's concert features The Rockin' Soul Horns, an eight piece band playing soul, swing, and R&B! The concert is on the front lawn of the library.
