Explore fencing, one of the original nine sports of the modern Olympic Games with Alex Ripa, Head Coach and owner of the Rhode Island Fencing Academy and Club. Alex, who coaches the foil/epee at Brown University and coaches successful international competitors, will lead an exciting demo. Find out more about this sport which challenges both the mind and body and develops confidence, empowerment, character and skill. This program is open to those in grades 6 to12 and their families.  Please register for this program.

Join us on the lawn for a performance by one of Rhode Island's best known magicians.  This program is free and open to the public. Please bring your own chairs or blanket for sitting. Play time starts at 10:00 AM. But little ones from birth through age 2 ½ with their adult caregiver, may drop in any time between 10:00 and noon to socialize and play. Toys, board books, puzzles and musical instruments are components of this program. At 11:00 AM a librarian will lead a brief story time consisting of rhymes, songs and a short story. Learn the basic rules of ping-pong, play for fun, and finish with an (optional) smackdown elimination competition!  Each library's champ will have the opportunity to compete for the title of Cranston Library Ping-Pong Champ at the Central Library on August 2nd, and everyone can come cheer on the competitors.  This program is open to participants entering Grades 5 and up, all equipment will be provided.  Registration is encouraged but not required.  Contact your library to find out if the ping-pong tables and paddles are available for practice or free play at other times.

Bwana Iguana Reptile Adventure is a fun, and interactive reptile show that allows the audience to get up close and personal with some common, as well as exotic reptiles. Ray Ward's level of enthusiasm, coupled with his sense of humor keeps the crowd entertained, while also educating them about these mysterious animals, too. It's always a fun time, and kids truly love it. The kids will be running to the book shelves to learn more when Ray inspires them to get "On Your Mark, Get Set, READ!"

Learn some bike maintenance skills from Providece Recycle-a-Bike! This class will cover the ABC Quick Check which should be performed before any bike ride, as well as a few cost-saving maintenance skills, like greasing your chain and adjusting your brake pads. Learn the basic rules of ping-pong, play for fun, and finish with an (optional) smackdown elimination competition!  Each library's champ will have the opportunity to compete for the title of Cranston Public Library Ping-Pong Champ at the Central Library on August 2, and everyone can come cheer on the competitors.  All equipment will be provided.  This program is open to participants entering grades 5 and up.  Registration is encouraged but not required.  Contact your library to find out if the ping-pong tables and paddles are available for practice or free play at other times.
