office_pencil 12:00 PM  -  4:00 PM ACT Practice Exam Remind Me about this Event   Tell a Friend
High school sophomores and juniors, come to this ACT practice test run by Kaplan Test Prep  to see how you do.   You will get a phone call with your results within two weeks to let you know what areas you need to improve through study.

Colleges now accept your highest standardized test score on either the ACT or the SAT.  Some students are more adept at the ACT so it is worth taking both exams to see which is a better fit for you.  The test is 4 hours long with a brief break in the middle.  Bring #2 pencils and a calculator and be on time!  Registration is required.  The library opens at noon so be sure to come to the back of the building and enter on the lower level if you arrive a few minutes early.

The Friends of the Library will provide refreshments.

misc_none 4:00 PM  -  5:00 PM Fashion Workshop for Teens Remind Me about this Event   Tell a Friend
Join Artist Kristine Humber for an hour to learn about fashion trends throughout the decades, different types of fabrics used and how to create a powerful fashion illustration!  Students will draw and create their own two fashion looks and will pick from a variety of fabric swatches. Techniques on how to show various textures will be explored as well.  Students may bring a magazine cut out or photo of a particular look they'd like to recreate. Otherwise plenty of reference will be available in class. Media used includes marker,
pencil, white gel pen, tissue paper and drawing paper. All supplies are provided.

For teens in 7th-12th grade.  Registration is required and begins on February 3rd.  Limited to 12 participants.  Because space is limited and there are materials and an outside presenter involved, it is important to call the library at least 48 hours ahead if you register but are unable to attend for any reason.
