Celebrate Teen Read Week All Month Long!

Teen Read Week is an anuual national celebration of teens and libraries, books and reading, and all the great resources libraries have to offer teens.  This year's official Teen Read Week is October 12 to 18 but this year we are celebrating all month long.  Visit the Teen Lounge and check out our display, I Read a Book (and I Like It) to find a great new read or share one you enjoyed.  Create a Bookface or a Dream Bookmark.

Spooky Halloween Tour

Tuesday, October 28, 2014, at 12:30 p.m.

$81.00 per person includes: bus, guided cemetery tour, buffet dinner, The Blaze, and all driver & guide gratuities.

Limited tickets will be on sale for Levittown UFSD residents beginning Thursday, July 10, at 6:00 p.m. in the Community Room, any remaining tickets will be at the Reference Desk.  Tickets for non-residents start July 17, at 9:00 a.m.  Limit four tickets per patron.  Any remaining tickets must be purchased by 5:00 p.m. August 23.

We will depart from the library at 12:30 p.m. and head for the Sleepy Hollow Cemetery where we will be met by our guide for a tour through the cemetery from 2:30-3:30 p.m.  The guide will reveal the history of the cemetery and it's residents as well as the art and architecture.  We will then go to Sunset Cove Restaurant for a magnificent buffet dinner overlooking the Tappan Zee Bridge on the Hudson River with the Palisades as a back drop!  After dinner we will depart for The Blaze which has more than 5,000 individually hand-carved, illuminated jack-o'-lanterns and is set in an elaborate walk-through experience on the historic 18th-century riverside landscape at Van Cortlandt Manor.  At 8:00 p.m., we will depart to return to the library arrivng back at approximately 9:30 p.m.  Join us if you dare!

This trip involves a lot of walking on gravel/dirt pathways with slight inclines.

For Children Ages 12 Months through 36 Months (Siblings up to 5 years of age are welcome)

Wednesdays, October 1, 8, 15, 22, & 29, at 10:00 a.m. in the Community Room

Parent's library card and child's birth certificate are needed for registration.  Parents may register by phone, but preference will be given to on-site registrants.  If registration is by phone, parents must come to the library before their child's first workshop session and present their library card and child's birth certificate to pick up the confirming registration letter.  THis program will provide a setting in which you and your child can learn and play together, introduce you to specialists and community resource individuals who will provide you with information on the different aspects of parenting and early childhood, and promote family literacy.

Levittown Public Library Bus Trip

Holiday Lights!

Thursday, December 11, 2014, departure at 2:15 p.m.

$89.00 per person includes:  transportation, dinner, snacks, and all gratuities.

Limited, in-person ticket sale for Levittown UFSD residents will begin on Thursday, September 18, at 6:00 p.m. Limit 2 tickets per patron

We will have dinner at Tommaso's Restaurant in Brooklyn followed by a bus ride through the famous streets of Dyker Heights and the Bay Ridge section of Brooklyn to see the festive homes and spectacular holiday lights!  Tony Muia, from A Slice of Brooklyn, will narrate our tour with a multimedia presentation including vintage holiday shows and music.  We will depart from the library at 2:15 p.m. and return at approximately 9:00 p.m.

The first night of ticket sales will take place in of the library meeting rooms and a Levittown School District Resident must be present to purchase tickets.  Proof of residency is required.  Any remaining tickets will be on sale at the Reference Desk for Levittown UFSD residents for one week following start date, then non-residents may purchase tickets.  Non-refundable payment is due at the time of registration.  Money order or check accepted (no cash), made payable to the Levittown Public Library.

Please note that all bus trips are subject to a minimum registration.  Trip itineraries may be subject to change due to unforseen circumstances.  Children under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult.  Bus-trip participants must be at the designated point of depature at the appointed time.  The bus will not wait for latecomers.
