For ages 6-10 years, with a caregiver. Presented by Princeton Healthcare System.

Caregivers are encouraged to participate. There will not be a waiting list for this program. If a space becomes available due to a cancelation, we will make an electronic space available at that time.

 

Register only once, beginning June 20. Program is intended for participants who can attend all 4 weeks. the presenter will provide an incentive for those patrons who do so.

In response to Princeton Healthcare System’s recent community needs assessment, this program was developed to help combat obesity. This program is presented thanks to the generous support of Scott and Tracy Sipprelle and Novo Nordisk. "Bring on Breakfast" is the theme for June 28. Participants will be able to identify the importance of eating breakfast. Participants will also learn about healthier breakfast options and be able identify sugar on a nutrition label.

 

Registration (only once) is required, beginning at 7am on June 20th.

Preference at the door will be given to patrons who have registered with a valid MCLS library card. Participants must arrive in time to start the program or their place may be forfeited. A patron who does not attend a class, will have their name removed from the remaining sessions to allow space for another interested patron to attend. Please phone us at 989-6921 if you will not be able to attend.

Learn the ancient art of paper quilling and create a bookmark.

Choose from a flower, a snail or a goldfish.

For children 9-13 years old. Caregiver must stay in the library.

You may come and start your project anytime between 1:00-1:45. Project will take about 20 minutes to complete.

There might be a small wait time for rotation into different stations. Number of bookmarks made will depend on number of children in attendance.

Join us for a new program for toddlers and preschoolers to explore all things science!

Each session we will examine a different aspect of science through books and hands-on experiments for your little scientist to investigate, play and have fun!

This week’s theme is: Dinosaurs.

Please dress in old clothes or wear a smock. Some experiments may get messy!

Registration is required starting at 7am on the day of the program.

In Book, Beast and Puppet presented by Mock Turtle Marionette Theatre, the program begins with a play using a parade of animal characters including Brer Rabbit, the Cat and the Fiddle and the Bremen Town musicians.

Through puppetry, storytelling and audience participation, children will learn just what makes books so wonderful- and important. A hands-on puppet craft will conclude the program.

Grab your family & friends and join us for a fun board game – and you are the pieces!

Our meeting rooms will be transformed into a giant, life-sized Candy land board.

Play as a family (groups of 2-5 people) and travel through the board visiting locations from this childhood classic. Work together until you reach the Candy Castle!

All children will get small treats along the way.

Please come any time between 6:30pm and 8pm (no rounds will start after 8pm). Crafts and coloring sheets will be available for those waiting to play.

In response to Princeton Healthcare System's recent community needs assessment, this program was developed to help combat obesity. This program is presented thanks to the generous support of Scott and Tracy Sipprelle and Novo Nordisk. "Fun with Fruits and Veggies" is the theme for July 26. Participants will learn the importance of eating fruits and vegetables. They will learn how many fruits and vegetables they should eat in a day and will be able to identify ways to include more fruits and vegetables into their everyday meals and snacks.

Eating is one of the primary supports of life. There is no choice, it must be accomplished. Eating to live involves eating something else that is living, so the whole operation is both dangerous and complicated. All animals, including ourselves, have evolved specific dietary needs, so each species must eat certain foods, but in the right combinations.

Obtaining these foods from their sources can be as simple as clipping a blade of grass or as difficult as pulling down a deer. This program looks at animal diets; how they are acquired, the difficulty in doing so, how animals find and catch their food and how they avoid becoming part of another’s diet.

EMPOWER your child with CONFIDENCE through public speaking! Public speaking is an indispensable life skill that is equally important as academics and extra curricular activities.

Join us for a workshop where we explore the nuances of public speaking through various age appropriate fun activities.

This is a free demonstration workshop presented by Desires by Design, in partnership with the Library.

Registration is required, beginning at 7am on the day of the show.

Preference at the door may be given to patrons who have registered with a valid MCLS library card. Those who have not done so may be admitted as space permits.

For children under 5 years old.  For safety reasons, the caregiver that brings the child must remain in the room to supervise.

The children’s activity room will be open to families. A variety of rotating fun and educational toys are housed in this room for independent play and learning. There are tables, a rug and a sink for washing up. Light snacking is permitted. Chatting and socializing in low voices is encouraged.

*Although partially separated, this room is not soundproof and ongoing noise can be heard in the library where other visitors and staff are present. We ask caregivers to stay aware and monitor their noise and activity levels; Children or babies who are upset or distraught should be taken out of the area if the noise becomes ongoing or disruptive to others in the library.
