misc_none 7:00 PM  -  9:00 PM Evening Book Group: Doctor Thorne, by Anthony Trollope   Download Event Info Tell a Friend
    Contact: West Windsor Staff   609-275-8901

Doctor Thorne, the third novel in Anthony Trollope's Chronicles of Barsetshire, sees the author steer away from the church politics of the first two novels and move toward the scandals and prejudice of the upper tiers of Victorian-era aristocracy. It tells the tale of Frank Gresham and Mary Thorne, a couple intent on marriage despite their conflicting social backgrounds. Frank is engaged in a fierce battle with his family as his mother vehemently opposes the marriage and pushes him to marry a wealthy heiress; however, Frank shuns his mother's attempts, as he is determined to accept Mary on her own terms. Trollope's classic, trademark prose shines in Doctor Thorne: always solicitous, gentle, and kind to his readers, the author peppers his narrative with wonderfully witty observations that will leave you smiling.

Most employees are unaware of the many recently added job protections available under New Jersey and federal law. This free seminar will cover many topics concerning your job and career, and you will have the opportunity to ask a labor lawyer any questions you may have regarding:

  • Unfair treatment on the job
  • Wrongful discharge, discrimination, and harassment
  • Employment contracts and performance reviews
  • Wages, salary, hours, overtime, and compensation
  • Disability leave, pregnancy leave, and health insurance
  • Severance pay and unemployment benefits
  • Non-competition agreements

Mitchell Schley is a labor lawyer in East Brunswick, New Jersey, who has been practicing for over 25 years. He has prosecuted cases on behalf of employees with the National Labor Relations Board and has represented Fortune 500 corporations and now represents hourly, salaried, professional, and managerial employees regarding employment matters.
