    Children ages 6-11 are welcome to this weekly art program geared to stimulate your child's independent creativity. To achieve this goal, children will pick the medium of their choice (paint, markers, collage, etc.) to create art of their choice. The librarian will provide assistance and instruction as necessary.

Please note that as the children create art parents and guardians are asked to wait in the library.

If your child is under 6 but you believe they can create art independently (without your presence in the art room) please get in touch as it may be possible for them to participate.

The festivities will include an introduction to Diwali, Indian dance and music, a children's parade through the library in traditional dress (children are encouraged to wear traditional dress to the event), and a Garba dance workshop (registration required).

A variety of crafts will be available including making a Diwali card and door hanging, Diya painting, and Rangoli painting.

Snacks will be served.

    Arduino is an open-source platform used for building electronics projects.

It consists of a programmable circuit board and software that runs on a computer.

Working in small groups, we’ll use the SparkFun Inventor’s Kit. This kit includes everything needed to complete 15 circuits. We will learn how to read sensors, display information on an LCD, drive motors, and more.

Previous programming or electronics experience is not necessary.

Mozart’s music appears in more than 550 movies. Join us for this multimedia program, which will examine well-known movies in which Mozart’s music is featured. Clips from Master and Commander, Elvira Madigan, Shawshank Redemption, Out of Africa, Amadeus, The King’s Speech, and Adieu Mozart (a documentary about Mozart’s three trips to Prague) are followed by the real story behind the music.

This program is presented by Catherine Sprague, a pianist with musical training at Mount Holyoke College and Indiana University. Ms. Sprague has lectured on classical music throughout New Jersey and is a member of the Mozart Society of America.

If we do not get enough registrants, we will have to cancel the program. You will be notified if the program is cancelled.
