    Contact: Lawrence Programs   609-989-6920   lawprogs@mcl.org
Summary and scene are useful parts of the short story architecture, but scenes bring your characters to life and demand your reader’s attention. This workshop explores the elements of a scene—complex characters, POV, sense details, action, dialogue, new plot information, conflict, and setting—and allows the writer to practice writing vivid scene openings. Suitable for both emerging and established writers, the workshop will be a combination of lecture and writing exercises, designed to develop your understanding and get the creative fires blazing. This month bestselling author Lauren B. Davis joins librarian Donna Wolfe. Ms. Davis is best known for her novel Our Daily Bread, which was named one of the best books of 2011 by The Globe and Mail and The Boston Globe. She currently lives in Princeton, New Jersey where she leads a writers’ workshop, Sharpening the Quill. The monthly meeting of this fiction writing group is an encouraging and supportive environment in which to share your writing. Members are encouraged but not required to submit their work. Registration is suggested.
