Interactive Public Speaking

… at the West Windsor Public Library

A free program offered by Jaidev Phadke and Jordon DeGroote, members of the local High School South Model United Nations team, ranked top 4 in the nation. The novice course will cover the purpose and basics of speaking, and will cater to students less comfortable to public speaking, while the advanced course will serve a more experienced crowd with a deeper analysis of the skill. Whether a beginner or a seasoned veteran, public speaking is an invaluable tool for every walk of life, and a key ingredient to success in the 21st Century.

    Students will explore their favorite genres of film and create their own original plot. Professional film and theatre actor Rob Cousins will direct students in creating their own film. Come out, share your creative voice, & become the star of your own movie!

ROBERT COUSINS has served as Odd Act Theatre Group's resident playwright since the company’s founding. His first full-length play, All the Rabbits, debuted in central New Jersey in 2007 and was also produced at the Greenbelt Arts Center in Maryland. How the Money Goes, his second full-length, opened the following year and has since appeared at the Edinburgh Festival in Scotland and Capital Fringe Festival in Washington, DC. His work has won awards on tour in Canada and will be featured this summer in Philadelphia. He holds a PhD in performance studies and teaches courses in public speaking and the humanities.

The West Windsor Branch of the Mercer County Library Youth Services Department will be auditioning for a new musical play, "The Midnight Girl" to be performed in October.

Needed: Children and teens ages 9-17 and some adult roles.

Discover what makes a marine mammal different than a fish, which types of marine mammals and sea turtles come to New Jersey and the dangers they face while they are here. Learn how and why the Marine Mammal Stranding Center helps our marine friends.

Marine Mammals and Sea Turtles is presented by the The Marine Mammal Stranding Center, a private, non-profit organization, started in 1978 with a handful of volunteers and a C.E.T.A. grant, was founded, and is still directed by Robert Schoelkopf! With a permit and authorization from the state and federal governments, the Center has responded to over 3900 strandings of whales, dolphins, seals and sea turtles that have washed ashore over the years.

    Announcing Auditions for the 2014 Halloween Playfest at the West Windsor Branch Library.

The West Windsor Branch of the Mercer County Library Youth Services Department will be auditioning for a new musical play, "The Midnight Girl" to be performed in October.

Needed: Children and teens ages 9-17 and some adult roles.

Rehearsals begin in early September.

No acting experience necessary, but bring your resume and headshot if you have them. Auditions will consist of readings from the play scripts and, for singing roles, a selection of very well-known songs.

It consists of a programmable circuit board and software that runs on a computer.

Working in small groups, we’ll use the SparkFun Inventor’s Kit. This kit includes everything needed to complete 15 circuits. We will learn how to read sensors, display information on an LCD, drive motors, and more.

Previous programming or electronics experience is not necessary.

For ages 12-18 with registration. Another session will take place on August 8th, register for this one as well if you wish to attend.
