The West Windsor Branch of the Mercer County Library Youth Services Department will be auditioning for a new musical play, "The Midnight Girl" to be performed in October.

    Whales, Dolphins and Porpoises Oh My! for grades 3-6.

Learn about the different types of cetaceans through a variety of mystery items revealed by your students. Filled with artifacts, suspense and fascinating facts, this program will open up the world of these mysterious mammals.

Whales, Dolphins and Porpoises Oh My! is presented by the The Marine Mammal Stranding Center, a private, non-profit organization, started in 1978 with a handful of volunteers and a C.E.T.A. grant, was founded, and is still directed by Robert Schoelkopf! With a permit and authorization from the state and federal governments, the Center has responded to over 3900 strandings of whales, dolphins, seals and sea turtles that have washed ashore over the years.

    This program requires absolutely no programming experience, and in fact, encourages those with no experience to come. We intend to teach students basic computer science principles using Scratch, and as time permits, move on to the basics of Java.

Through the course of the "camp," we will be designing games and other programs, culminating with a day of designing a final game with a team and showcasing it!

The camp lasts for five days: Monday,August 4; Tuesday, August 5, Wednesday, August 6; Friday, August 8; and Saturday, August 9. Students who sign up for the program are expected to come for all the days of the "camp," with Saturday being optional.
