Mount Misery by Samuel Shem
This is a lacerating and brilliant novel of doctors and patients in a psychiatric hospital. Mount Misery is a prestigious facility set in the rolling green hills of New England, its country club atmosphere maintained by generous corporate contributions. Young Dr. Roy Basch is lucky enough to train there only to discover doctors caught up in the circus of competing psychiatric theories, and patients who are often there for one main reason: they've got good insurance.

    The public is invited to attend Picturing the World’s “Family Day at the Art Museum” located in the Children’s Department on March 9th from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm. All of the artwork on display was created by a collaborative project with school art teachers and the library; inspired by reproductions of famous artists from around the world. Stop by that day to see the beautiful artwork, do an art scavenger hunt and participate in some hands on art lessons. Go to March 9th and sign up to attend the book making class or the mosaic picture class.

Gender Shock by Phyllis Burke
Burke’s book was published in the 1990’s amid an avalanche of popular books on gender differences (think “Men are from Mars…”) She explodes myths about gender inequality, and takes on the psychology community on issues about gender identity.

    The public is invited to attend Picturing the World’s “Family Day at the Art Museum” located in the Children’s Department on March 9th from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm. All of the artwork on display was created by a collaborative project with school art teachers and the library; inspired by reproductions of famous artists from around the world. Stop by that day to see the beautiful artwork, do an art scavenger hunt and participate in some hands on art lessons. Go to March 9th and sign up to attend the book making class or the mosaic picture class.
