In a professional learning community educators work together to answer the following critical questions:
What do we want our students to learn?
How will we know when they’ve learned it?
How will we respond when they don’t learn it?
How will we respond when they do learn it?
One of the best ways to study and answer these questions is through the use of common assessments. When teams of educators develop common assessments, they establish a consistent way to effectively monitor student learning, collectively respond to results, implement informed practice, and raise teaching and learning expectations.
This workshop emphasizes best practices in assessment design and explores how this is achieved as a team.
The cost for this workshop is $40. Checks or PO should be made payable to SPDC-ERCSD and sent to SPDC, 30 Linden St., Exeter, NH 03833. Breakfast and lunch will be served.

Social bookmarking is the practice of saving bookmarks to a web site and “tagging” them with keywords. Social bookmarking sites are a popular way to store, classify, share and search links online making it more convenient for teachers and students to access stored sites. During this session, participants will explore two different social bookmarking sites, "Diigo" and "Delicious" and discover how they can be used to support and extend classroom learning and resources. Participants will compare both sites for ease of use and then create there own free accounts. They will also explore "Diigo" for Education which allows teachers to create student accounts and groups without the need of student email addresses and which has preset privacy settings that allow only teachers and classmates access to their bookmarks. Come find out more about how "social" bookmarking can make storing, sharing, and building classroom sites a whole lot easier and fun for the busy teacher and student. The cost for this class is $20. Checks and PO's can be made payable to SPDC-ERCSD.
