| |
Location: Conant Hall, Vermont Technical College, Randolph Ctr., VT
The Risks and Rewards of Fearless Preaching: an evening with pastor and author Robin Meyers (in conjunction with the 2013 Vermont Conference Annual Meeting) - Every renewal of the church has been accompanied by a renewal of preaching. Rev. Dr. Robin Meyers did his doctoral work in preaching and persuasion, and draws on 30 years of experience in the fi eld of homiletics. In this offering, he shares what it might mean for pastors (and lay preachers) to preach sermons that are biblically responsible, intellectually honest, emotionally satisfying, and socially significant.
About Rev. Meyers: he is an ordained minister in the United Church of Christ, a tenured professor in the philosophy department at Oklahoma City University, an author, a syndicated columnist, and an award-winning commentator for National Public Radio. He has been the Senior Minister of Mayflower Congregational UCC church of Oklahoma City since 1985, the fastest growing UCC church in the Kansas Oklahoma conference. Dr. Meyers is the author of six books. His newest book is entitled The Underground Church: Reclaiming the Subversive Way of Jesus (Wiley, 2012). Dr. Meyers is a member of the Jesus Seminar, and a frequent preacher and speaker at church conferences and communication workshops across the country. His website is: http://robinmeyers.com/.
