misc_none 2:00 PM  -  4:00 PM SECRETS FOR PLANT BASED COOKING Remind Me about this Event   Tell a Friend

Adults          New Year = New You Series  ~  Fee: $10/each

Do you want to eat more plant-based meals but don’t know how to get started?

Will the nutrition be right?  Will they taste good?  Will you need “weird” ingredients?  What’s a family cook to do???

Well, hold on to your spatulas, because your questions are about to be answered!  In 2014, Caroline Graettinger set out to create 20 delicious, family-friendly, super healthy, plant-based meals every month for 12 months. And these meals had to meet all those criteria above – and no “weird” ingredients. She ended up with 270 plant-based recipes for breakfast, lunch, & dinner - plus holidays, picnics, travel, quick meals, classy meals, desserts, and yes, even a Pittsburgh wedding cookie table! From all that cooking - and mistakes (ask her about the “flaming pitas of death”) - she’s learned indispensable tips for making delicious, healthy, plant-based meals, without the stress.  And she wants to share those tips with you.  And so does Tim Graettinger, Caroline’s husband and stalwart taste-tester, who will share his tips for creating healthy meals for non-cooks.  Do you have family favorite recipes that you’d like to make plant-healthy?  Learn tips for replacing eggs, milk, and even ground beef in your family’s recipes.

Come join us for a fun time while learning lessons that will save you time and money, and make your plant-based meals delicious all year.

misc_none 1:00 PM BOOKWORMS Remind Me about this Event   Tell a Friend

    Adults

Join the Bookworms to discuss  Antoinette van Heugten's saving max.

Max Parkman—autistic and whip-smart, emotionally fragile and aggressive—is perfect in his mother's eyes. Until he's accused of murder.

Attorney Danielle Parkman can't deny her son's behavior has been getting worse—drugs and violent outbursts have become a frightening routine. But the diagnosis she receives from a top-notch adolescent psychiatric facility that Max is deeply disturbed—and dangerous—is too devastating to accept.

Until she finds Max, weapon in hand, at the bedside of a fellow patient who has been brutally stabbed to death.

Trapped in a maelstrom of doubt and fear and barred from contacting Max, Danielle's mothering instincts snap sharply into focus. The justice system is bearing down on them, so she must use her years of legal experience to find out the truth, no matter what that might be. But has she, too, lost touch with reality? Is her son truly a killer?
