Our special event for Homeschool Hangout this month is making spooky luminaries! Each participant will choose stickers or designs to decorate the outside of a mason jar and cover the inside with tissue paper. When we add an LED candle, the luminaries will make a pretty, glowy design.

Gather ‘round as we dive into a selection of Halloween-themed stories that are sure to delight and entertain. From playful pumpkins to friendly ghosts, our stories will capture the Halloween spirit and spark imaginations. Feel free to come in your favorite Halloween costumes! We encourage all little goblins, witches, and superheroes to dress up and join in the fun.

Join paranormal investigator Barry Pirro of Connecticut Ghost Hunter.com as he discusses his most chilling cases of ghosts, demons, and haunted objects in New England and New York. Hear voices recorded during ghost investigations and watch an amazing video of a ghost captured on film. Barry has been a consultant for paranormal TV shows Ghost Adventures, Ghost Nation, Kindred Spirits, and Paranormal Survivor. Participants will have the opportunity to ask questions about ghost hunting and to share their own true ghost stories.

We will have tons of activities set up at the library if you would like to enjoy a more laid-back Halloween this year. What to expect: Come any time between 4pm and 7pm and explore the different activity stations set up throughout the library. In the adult section we will have a "Spooky Silent Reading" area, Halloween bookmarks to color, crafts, and a Halloween puzzle! For the kiddos we will have not-so-scary movie shorts playing in the meeting room, fun games and activities outside, and tons of toys and crafts in the program room! The Alzhimers Association will give a presentation on the typical warning signs that often lead to an Alzheimer's diagonoses. Alzheimer's and other dementias cause memory, thinking, and behavior changes that interfere with daily living. Learn about common warning signs of Alzheimer's and what symptoms to look for in yourself and others, as well as tips to approach someone who is experiencing changes in their memory, the benefit of early detection and diagnosis, and more.
