Session 2 of 6: Sikorsky Aircraft
This is session 2 of 6 of our CT Industry & Innovation series with Art Gottleib.
With its main production facility and administrative offices located in Stratford Connecticut, this venerable company was founded by Igor Sikorsky in 1923. An early supplier of multi engine aircraft, Sikorsky’s most remembered pre-war flying-boat was Pan American Airway’s “China Clipper”. During WW II, Sikorsky Aircraft emerged as a leading innovator of helicopters, and remains a major supplier of this type of aircraft, serving the needs of both the military and civilian aviation markets.
Presented by Arthur Gottlieb, LCSW, CSA. Art Gottlieb is a local historian on subjects of political and military history. He was formerly a professional curator of naval history and the Technical Director of Exhibits at the Intrepid Sea-Air-Space Museum in New York City.
